Satoshi Nishimura talks about adapting Kodansha Award-Winning manga Hajime no Ippo into TV anime Hajime no Ippo, roughly outlining his stance on this adaptation as a fairly strict “stick-to-the-source” tack.

  1. They did a great job for being a slavishly close adaptation. Compared to newer iterations, Ippo’s original run had tightly paced and executed fights. Reflects the difference between Madhouse then and now I suppose.
